Ella Blouse

This is a PDF pattern by Sew Over It, one I've been coveting for a good while now.

After Christmas I saw that they were having a sale with 50% off fabrics and 20% off patterns and I just couldn't help myself. The pattern came down to £5 which I thought wasn't bad at all. The fabric, however, was reduced to £6 per half metre and since I needed 1.5 metres for this top it came to much more than I'd usually spend! Good job I love it!

It didn't take too long to cut and piece the printed sheets out and the whole top is only 4 pieces - a front, a back, ties and back neck facing.

The instructions were very clear to follow with photos for every step. It was quite a simple make and only took me 2 and a half hours on a Monday evening! I'm afraid I didn't take many photos because I just got straight into it and got carried away!

Below is a photo of the pleats at the side of each front piece. These weren't difficult to do but they took a little concentration.

The sleeve hems could be a little neater but this was the last thing I did and by this point I was tired but very excited to try it on! I think next time I will take more care with the sleeves but also taper them in a little.

I wasn't sure whether this top would look that good on me since the waist ties highlight not my best feature, but I love the pattern so much I thought I'd give it a go. Over all it's a fantastic pattern and I think in a dark colour/patterned fabric it looks fine. I have already bought some bright lime green fabric to make another!
