This is actually the Kielo wrap dress by Named Clothing but since I bought the pattern and fabric with some birthday pennies I decided to dedicate it to my 39th birthday!
I had been swooning over this pattern on Instagram for a while and decided I needed it, especially since we have been having a major heatwave recently. I bought the pdf pattern from the Girl Charlee website and the fabric is from (where else?!) Barrys at £2.95 pm. The dress takes 3m of fabric because it's a wide maxi dress.
The printed pattern only takes 12 pieces of paper but then you need to trace several different sections to make the 3 pieces. And since I use baking paper this hurt my brain!
It didn't take long to cut out and I started sewing it together immediately. I'm afraid I didn't get many photos of the construction as I got a little excited by the process and just wanted it made.
The dress has two bust darts and two vertical back darts, it also has a slit up the back and a tie waist. Once the darts are in it's literally a case of sewing up the sides, the shoulders and then hemming the bottom and neck and sleeve holes. I decided to use bias binding for the arm and neck which gave a nice neat finish.
I am in love with this pattern and the fabric. It's so comfortable and easy to wear and I feel the need to make MANY more! The pattern comes with a sleeve option and it can be made in both woven and knit fabrics so I think I'll make a knee length knit version with sleeves for the autumn.
