This is a pattern I bought earlier this year in the Simplicity New Look sale. Its for jersey materials and I thought it looked simple but you could do a lot with the side panels. I bought the 7-14 yrs so it would last my daughter a while and when I want a size I trace it so I keep the master. I've done this with a few patterns which I want to last her for a few years.
For this dress I copied the smallest size and used some scraps I had left over from other projects to make this dress for my daughter, even though she won't be able to wear it for a few years!
I used a lovely purple ponte roma and a medium weight green marl jersey. I thought the colours worked gorgeously together!
It was a very easy pattern to put together. First you put the binding on the top edge of the pockets and then attach them to the side panels. The front and back are sewn at the shoulders and the neckline is turned in. The side panels are added to the front and back and the arms are set in. Then all it needs is hemming and you're done! The photos don't so the colours justice!
I love this dress and can't wait to see it on her - I've only got to wait 4 years! I really like the little accent of the purple binding on the top of the side pockets.
I'll definitely be making more of these.
